Biography


Long ago Hongo was as wild and ferocious as most other trolls. An unlikely encounter with some members of Xylona’s Flock changed his life. The raging troll had been seriously wounded when he was discovered by a patrol of rangers. Seeing the pain he was in, the rangers convinced him to allow them to heal him. 

As they worked, one of the dwarves lit a pipe. Hongo was curious and the dwarf shared. Hongo had found his calling in life. 

After he recovered, the massive forest troll found a decent place to set up a small homestead in the woods not too far from the rangers’ western outpost. The dwarf and some others taught the giant how to grow different plants to use for his new pipe.




Occasionally teenage denizens will dare one another to visit Hongo. The large creature is usually found lounging in his makeshift shelter or tending to his crops. The smoky haze around his home tends to keep the younger folk on the same wavelength as him. And due to that…altered state of mind, he has somehow been deemed a “shaman,” for the words of wisdom he bestows on the dared adventurers.

He really just recites platitudes and nonsense that merely sounds wise. In times of real trouble Hongo has been known to set down his pipe and pick up a boulder to help protect and defend his home and the other peaceful denizens of the vast woodland.
